You should have a real-time virus scanner (one that is always watching) and run a weekly scan. Same with the spyware.
As for cookies and temp files, you can set it up to use only so much space. You don't have to clear the cookies because they should ';expire'; after a while. Plus, unless you want to delete them one-by-one, if you delete cookies it'll delete them all. You may not want this. (For example, you wouldn't want your google preferences to be cleared but that's what will happen when you delete your cookies.)How often do we need to clear away cookies and internet files?
';How?'; is a question that has plagued man for all eternity. Now to answer the question ';Often do we need to clear away cookied and internet files?'; The answer is sure.

I don't think that there is a real cut and dried schedule for cleaning. Normally I clean, cookies, Internet files and history every night, before I shut down..Only takes a couple of seconds and keeps things freed up. As far as spy and virus checks, run them weekly, or anytime you think that you may have a problem. All the cleaning is going to be based on exactly what type of sites you are browsing....
Use one of the Clean up tools to clear out cookies, other junk from your computer and prevent people from tracing your internet surfing
