How do i clear the internet history on my imac computer?

i just go an imac computer and everything is still very new to me and its slowing down a bit and i want it to be FASTER! so if you can help...

Step 1Open up Safari.


Step 2Go to the History menu.


Step 3Choose 'Clear History' at the bottom of the pull down menu.


Step 4Repeat as needed.
